Feeling Connected When You’re Apart

Being part of any community keeps you engaged and connected with others.  Your members chose to be a part of your organization’s community because they want to connect with others who share their interests.  You can give them all the tools they need to stay in contact, share ideas and stay informed.

Are your members not really computer savvy? Your club tools should be easy to use, and your members should have the support they need if they run into trouble.

Do you usually hold club meetings, but can’t meet in person? There are other ways to get your organization news out to your members.

There’s no shortage of ways to communicate with your members.  If they are a particularly chatty bunch and love to share new ideas with each other, set up a discussion forum or live chat.  Members can speak to each other as if they were in the same room and keep the conversation going longer than a club meeting would last.

If your club or association officers like to make announcements about your organization, release news updates to your members to keep them in the loop on any exciting changes.  Send members a blast text message to quickly alert them about something important, such as an event cancellation.

Do members at your club offer updates on new developments in your hobby or professional field?  Have them author a blog to keep your members up to date.  Your members can get information and have a conversation with each other and the author by leaving comments.

How do you “take the temperature” of your members?  Are they happy with what they are getting from your club?  Do they have new ideas for your organization?  If you survey your members to get feedback, whether it’s through a multi-page survey or a quick one-question poll, you know whatever path your organization is on your members are satisfied.

Continuous communication has many benefits not just to your organization, but to the communal feeling your members have.

Next time let’s talk about the importance of emailing and how you can increase your organization’s reach and member engagement through blast email campaigns.  In the meantime, take a look all the features ClubExpress offers to help enhance communication within your organization.
