You are invited to a relaxing summer afternoon on Lake Michigan aboard the yacht Free Spirit. If you like the Air and Water Show but hate crowds, come catch a preview of the show when they practice Friday afternoon.
The multi-level Free Spirit is luxuriously equipped for passenger relaxation and comfort, with lower and main cabins that are air-conditioned and heated for comfortable cruising at all times. Enjoy strolling on the open bow or top deck, and view the ever-changing Chicago skyline.
Appetizers and snacks will be provided, along with soda, beer, and wine.
The 2009 Chicago Air and Water Show will provide two days of daredevil thrills in the air and on the water at North Avenue Beach and along Chicago's magnificent lakefront.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team will headline the show along with a surprise line-up to be announced at a later date.
Returning civilian performers include Lima Lima Flight Team and the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team.
The Naperville-based Lima Lima team has thrilled more than 100 million spectators around the country with the beauty and grace of their precision performance.
Perennial audience favorite Team Oracle will perform along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point. Each time daredevil pilot Sean Tucker catapults across the sky in the one-of-a-kind Oracle Challenger, he makes the plane do things that seem impossible like flying backwards at speeds up to 100 mph. |
The U.S. Navy Leap Frogs jump 12,500 feet above the earth, diving at speeds of up to 120 mph. |
Bill Reesman flies the Red Bull MIG-17F, originally built for Cold War deployment in Poland, at over 600 mph while pulling 8 G's of force.
